Darshan Mehta, the President and CEO of Reliance Brands Limited (RBL), is stepping down from his role after nearly two decades at the helm of the company.

Having been with RBL since its inception in 2007, Mehta has played a pivotal role in shaping the company into India’s leading player in the premium and luxury fashion and lifestyle segment.

While stepping down as CEO, Mehta will take on a new role as a mentor within the Reliance Group.

According to a report by The Times of India, he will guide future leaders and help explore new business opportunities for the group. Additionally, Mehta will remain on the RBL board as a non-executive director.

Under Mehta’s leadership, RBL became a dominant force in India’s luxury and premium retail market.

The company currently operates over 420 mono-brand stores and 350 shop-in-shops across more than 60 cities in India.

With over 5,000 employees in its stores and 750 in its corporate offices, RBL has cemented its position as a key player in the retail space.

He mentored Isha Ambani, the head of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, as she took on leadership roles within the group.

Before his time with Reliance Brands, Darshan Mehta worked with Arvind Brands, where he introduced global sportswear brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Nautica to India in the early 2000s.

Mehta is a chartered accountant and began his career at Price Waterhouse in Mumbai. He later moved on to a senior position at Trikaya Grey Advertising, where he honed his strategic and leadership skills.

Currently, Mehta divides his time between Mumbai, Delhi, and London, continuing to guide the retail business even as he transitions to a new role.
