Bengaluru-based deeptech startup SpaceFields has raised $5 million (~₹42 crore) in a pre-Series A round, led by Globaz Technologies, with participation from Rockstud Capital, Venture Catalysts, Rainmatter, Burla Angel Network, Faad Capital, SIDBI, O2 Angels, and the MeitY Startup Hub. This comes after its $1.3 million seed round in 2024.
The fresh capital will be used to scale manufacturing, obtain regulatory certifications, and expand its team across engineering, operations, and business functions. Its collaboration with Globaz will further accelerate the development of sovereign, dual-use technologies for India’s defence and aerospace ecosystem.
Founded in 2021 by Apurwa Masook, Rounak Agrawal, and Sudarshan Samal, SpaceFields develops solid-fuel propulsion systems for UAVs, rockets, and spacecraft. The company was incubated at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
To date, the startup has secured four defence contracts through the Ministry of Defence’s iDEX initiative and holds five granted patents for indigenously developed propulsion technologies.

SpaceFields aims to strengthen India’s strategic defence capabilities while also catering to the growing NewSpace economy, working with armed forces, DRDO, tactical drone companies, and aerospace manufacturers.
Commenting on the investment, Karan Wilkhoo, Director & Promoter at Globaz, said the partnership underscores strong confidence in SpaceFields’ ability to translate advanced R&D into deployable solutions, reinforcing India’s push for technological independence and self-reliance.
