Game development studio Shortgun has raised $1 million in a seed funding round backed by a group of angel investors and a family office.
The funds will be used to support the pre-production and development of the studio’s Minimum Viable Product (MVP), a polished vertical slice showcasing the game’s core narrative and mechanics. The investment will also go toward strategic hiring to expand the India-based development team.
Founded in 2021 by Jeet Chandan and Vidhit Mehta, Shortgun is a next-generation game development studio built by the original creators of Rogue Heist. The team is working on a genre-defying third-person shooter (TPS) title for PC and console.
The studio follows a quality-first, player-first design philosophy, aiming to deliver cinematic storytelling, tight gameplay mechanics, and emotional decision-making. Key members include Ashish R. Beuria and Neha Hooda, with around 25% of the team based overseas.
Shortgun has collaborated with Bollywood action director Vicky Arora, known for work on URI, RRR, TANAAV, and the upcoming Ramayan, to choreograph in-game action sequences.

India’s gaming market is currently valued at $5.21 billion (2024) and is projected to reach $22.53 billion by 2034, reflecting strong investor interest and global potential.
Shortgun aims to raise an additional $5 million in its next funding round to move from prototype to full production. The studio is positioning itself to build India’s first globally competitive shooter franchise.
