Spacetech startup InspeCity, incubated at IIT Bombay, has raised $5.6 million (₹46 crore) in a seed funding round led by investor Ashish Kacholia.

The round also saw participation from Speciale Invest, Shastra VC, Antler India, DeVC, MGF-Kavachh, and Anicut Capital.

The fresh capital will help InspeCity scale its R&D efforts and commercialize VEDA (Vehicle for Life Extension and De-orbiting Activities)—the company’s end-to-end platform for satellite life extension and space servicing. A demo mission for VEDA is scheduled for 2027.

Founded by Prof. Arindrajit Chowdhury, the startup is building technologies for in-space servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM), an emerging market expected to hit $14 billion by 2030.

InspeCity aims to compete globally with its integrated tech stack and cost-effective propulsion systems.

The startup is also exploring opportunities beyond India, with a strong focus on the US, Europe, Southeast Asia, and West Asia. It has partnered with Japan-based Orbital Lasers to explore laser-based solutions for space debris removal.

This funding round follows InspeCity’s $1.5 million pre-seed raise in April 2023.
