On Monday, November 11, 2024, Vistara Airlines will complete its final flight under its brand, marking the end of an era for the Tata Group-Singapore Airlines joint venture.

Known for its premium service and travel experience, Vistara’s integration into Air India begins a new chapter in Indian aviation.

With this merger, Singapore Airlines will hold a 25.1% stake in Air India. The full integration takes effect on November 12, and over 115,000 passengers with Vistara tickets will start flying under the Air India name from that point.

The Air India Group assures customers that the Vistara experience will remain consistent, even as flight codes change to Air India designations, starting with “2.” For instance, Vistara’s UK 955 will become AI 2955. Air India has positioned support teams at airports to assist with the transition.

Vinod Kannan, CEO of Vistara and now Chief Integration Officer for the merger, will continue post-merger as part of Air India’s Management Committee, reporting to Air India CEO Campbell Wilson.

Deepak Rajawat, Vistara’s Chief Commercial Officer, will transition to Chief Financial Officer at the newly expanded Air India Express, reporting to CEO Aloke Singh.

Founded in January 2015, Vistara built a reputation for elevating Indian air travel standards, expanding a strong domestic network and international routes.Since the merger announcement, social media has been filled with tributes from customers fondly recalling their experiences and bidding farewell to Vistara.

I took it couple of years ago, when the gate-assignment Gods at Delhi T3 must have been in a great mood!
