Ahmedabad-based space-tech startup Omspace Rocket & Exploration Private Limited has raised $3 million in pre-seed funding, with participation from angel investors, family offices, and foreign direct investment (FDI) from the UAE.
The round marks a milestone for India’s growing private space sector and supports the development of the country’s first 100% Made-in-India reusable rocket for small satellite launches.
The funds will be used to design, develop, and test Omspace’s indigenous reusable launch vehicle, aimed at drastically reducing the cost of satellite deployment. The company also plans to enhance its R&D infrastructure and expand international collaboration through its UAE-based entity OSRE FZC.
Founded by space technologist and entrepreneur Dr. Ravindra Raj BM, Omspace was incorporated as a private limited entity in June 2020. The startup is incubated at Cradle-EDII and supported by iHub, Government of Gujarat. Dr. Raj envisions building a cost-effective, sustainable, and globally competitive launch ecosystem developed entirely in India.

The company is targeting India’s first orbital reusable rocket launch by January 2028, with a focus on capturing demand from global small and nano satellite operators. The solution is expected to serve both commercial and institutional clients across emerging space economies.
Omspace aims to play a pivotal role in the country’s new space economy by contributing to its long-term self-reliance and global competitiveness in launch capabilities.
