Bengaluru-based battery tech startup Volt14 has raised $1.87 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Blume Ventures.

Other investors in the round include Beyond Next Ventures, Spectrum Impact, Supermorpheus, and existing backer Cocoon Capital.

The latest round brings Volt14’s total funding to $4.02 million. The capital will be used to scale up manufacturing operations and strengthen the company’s team.

Founded in 2019 by Animesh Kumar Jha, Volt14 is working on advanced silicon-based anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.

It has also developed a cylindrical battery cell using its proprietary technology, which demonstrates high energy density.

The startup says its innovation allows for higher silicon content in battery anodes without compromising performance, and the product is currently under evaluation by several cell manufacturers.

The global lithium-ion battery market is poised to surpass $300 billion by 2034, fueled by the rapid growth in electric vehicles and energy storage solutions.

Blume Ventures, which led this round, is also an early investor in Battery Smart, another leading name in the battery tech space.
